A TEENAGER has died in hospital after he was involved in a collision on the A12 earlier this week.

Police were called at 3.40am on Thursday to reports that a male pedestrian had been struck by a van on the northbound slip road to the A414 at Sandon.

The pedestrian was an 18-year-old man from the South Woodham Ferrers area.

It is believed he was seen a few minutes earlier walking on the roundabout on the Sandon park-and-ride side of the interchange. It is thought he was walking down the sliproad when the collision occurred.

The teen suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Broomfield Hospital. He was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge but sadly died on Friday night.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Officers continue to appeal for any witnesses or anyone who saw the man walking in the area to contact investigating officer PC Steve Catton at the Essex Police Serious Collision Unit on 101 or email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk."
