MAX Whitlock is already targeting more Olympic success.

The Basildon-based gymnast won two gold medals and one bronze in Rio.

But speaking to Echosport on his return to the South Essex Gymnastics Club, Whitlock confirmed he was keen to win more medals at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.

“There’s still a lot more for me to learn,” said Whitlock.

“Next year I’ll be learning new skills, especially on floor and there’s more to learn on pommel too.

“I want to increase on these results and take them up to 2020 and the next Olympics.”

However, Whitlock is currently not thinking beyond taking a well-deserved break from training.

“There are 40 of us from the club going away to Portugal but I won’t be taking my training kit,” said Whitlock.

“The little kids will be training and I’ll be there to help and watch but I won’t be joining in.

“When we get back from there I would also like to go on holiday for a long time and really relax.”

Hundreds of fans came out to welcome Whitlock back to Basildon on Friday and had pictures with him and one of his gold medals.

But Whitlock has yet to decide where to keep his Olympic golds.

“I haven’t been home too long so I haven’t really thought about it,” said the 23-year-old.

“I’ll need to find a good hiding place.”
