FIRE crews were called to two deliberate car fires on Canvey.

Two crews from Canvey fire station dealt with the fires which took place last night.

The first incident, on the approach road to Canvey Heights Country Park, off Creek Road, was reported at 11.15pm and when the crews arrived they found that the vehicle was 100 per cent alight.

One crew from Canvey fire station used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire by 11.50pm.

The second incident took place in Denham Road and was reported at 11.30pm.

The car was also 100 per cent alight on arrival with the second Canvey crew on hand to help. The fire was extinguished at 11.45pm.

Essex Police assisted the Essex Fire and Rescue Service at both incident scenes.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Police were contacted at 11.15pm on September 12 with reports of a car fire in Tip Road in Canvey.

"A white Ford Mondeo was alight. The fire is being treated as deliberate.

"Police were later contacted shortly before midnight following a car fire in Denham Road. The car, a black Ford Focus, had been deliberately set on fire.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Essex Police on 101."
