A GARDEN fete hosted by the Southend Blind Welfare Organisation’s was a huge success.
The event was held in the Southend Blind Welfare Organisation’s gardens, in Imperial Avenue, Westcliff, to raise money for residents with sight loss.
The Chairman of Rochford District Council, Carole Weston, attended the event as well as MP for Southend West Sir David Amess.
The chairman said: “I was impressed by so many people attending this worthwhile fete to help the Southend Blind Organisation.
“The stalls were full of splendid gifts for sale, and there were many raffle prizes. It was also nice to Sir David Amess attending the fete and enjoying himself too.”
David Hurst, Chairman of the Southend Blind Welfare Group, added: “Thanks to the hard work of staff and volunteers we had a lovely afternoon in the sun with entertainment from Southend Operatic and Dramatics Society.”
