AN eyewitness has told how four men attacked another in broad daylight and stabbed him in the arm.

Police officers and paramedics rushed to South Walk in Basildon after the man in his 20s was assaulted in front of onlookers.

Police later confirmed the man suffered puncture wounds to his left arm.

Two rapid response ambulance vehicles and an ambulance crew were dispatched to help him.

A spokesman for the service said the man was treated at the scene and did not need further treatment at hospital.

An eyewitness, who asked to remain anonymous, saw the attack.

She said onlookers stood by and did nothing to stop it.

She said: “I was walking back to my car. I just saw four boys jump another guy.

“I didn’t see them stab him but saw he had two stab wounds, one by the elbow and one above.

“They went round on to him, who knows why. “ She added: “It’s the second one we’ve had here. Lots of people were looking and said isn’t that bad but no-one helped the boy.

“I don’t know what it was about. I don’t know if they are from here or not but there’s too much of it happening.”

Alex, who is the owner of Ali Tech City in South Walk, saw the emergency services turn up for the incident.

He said: “I had heard about it. I saw the police outside and the ambulance turned up.

“There are a few young people in this area where there’s trouble.”

Moh Majid, owner of Beauty Palace, South Walk, was not surprised to hear of the attack.

He said: “I didn’t hear anything. There is a lot of trouble in this area. There was a murder recently. There have been five stabbings in this area although during the day it’s never normally a problem.

“It’s a small area and it shouldn’t be this bad. By 6pm there is normally hardly anyone around.”

The attach happened at 5.45pm on Friday.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Officers attended and found the man with puncture wounds to his left arm.

“His injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.”

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Basildon CID on 101.
