MEMBERS of a special needs club had a ‘wonderful unique week’ away to Croyde Bay, Devon, playing games, with singing and dancing.
The Sunday club, a special needs club for young people aged 14 to 40 based in Ceylon Road, Westcliff, met up with other special needs clubs and individuals from all over the country to take part in a fun filled week of tournaments.
Club leader Myra Bradley said the event is a very important week in the clubs calendar and this year it was enjoyed by everyone who went- particularly the fancy dress party.
She said: “The Sunday club won the snooker trophy and men's and ladies table tennis this year.
“In the evening there was entertainment with tribute singers, such as Elvis Presley, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry also the entertainment included this year a wonderful magician and a man who made giant animals from balloons and was enjoyed by all the clubs.
“Afterwards there is a disco until midnight. One of the evening highlights is the fancy dress and our club is delighted that every year Southend Mencap loan the club fancy dress outfits from their fancy dress shop.
“This year we went as Alice in Wonderland.”
