AN international pianist will be performing as part of a concert series in Southend.

John Lill, whose first piano recital was at nine-years-old and performed Rachmaninov’s 3rd Piano Concerto for his London debut, will be playing at the Plaza Centre, Southchurch Road, on Friday November 18.

The musician has had over four thousand performances across a sixty-year career and in 2005 he was awarded a CBE for his services to music.

He regularly gives concerts with leading symphony orchestras, and his extensive repertoire includes more than eighty concertos.

Ann Holland, Executive Councillor for Culture, Tourism and the Economy said: “It is a delight to welcome John to perform as part of the Concert Series.

“To offer the community and visitors the chance to see John in concert is a real treat and at such an affordable price, really should not be missed.”

Tickets for the concert cost £10 and £9 for concessions and members of the Southend Council Concert Series will pay £8 and £7 for concessions.
