DOZENS of fundraisers completed a ramble towards a UK cancer campaign whilst wearing a unique uniform… red trousers.

It came as part of RedTrouserDay, a campaign set up by Paul Finch who survived after being diagnosed with colorectal cancer, a form of bowel cancer in 2014.

He led a five and a half mile walk from the Peter Boat in Old Leigh to Shoebury Common, just by Uncle Tom’s Cabin.

Mr Finch, who is originally from Southend, set up the fundraiser in a bid to raise awareness and money research at the Royal Marsden Hospital, where he was treated.

His campaign has gathered a staggering £13,200 in donations online, with offline donations taking the total beyond £20,000.

The decision to wear red trousers came from the time Mr Finch wore a particularly "loud" pair at a family meal.

Mr Finch paid tribute to the walkers, and says he hopes to make the ramble in Southend an annual event.

He has urged more people to take note of any changes to their bowel movements.
