Leigh actress Kierston Wareing will be returning to the big screen alongside movie stars Idris Elba and Gemma Arterton.

The actress will take on the role of an East London nurse in the new film A Hundred Streets, which will tell four stories of a group of people living within one mile of each other in London.

The filmmakers describe the project as a gritty, contemporary and poignant multi-layered drama, with the underlying message being one of hope, and that by working as a community things can only get better.

Actors Charlie Creed-Miles, Franz Drameh, Tom Cullen and Ken Stott will also appear in the film.

Kierston, who previously appeared in Eastenders as Kirsty Branning, was nominated for a BAFTA award alongside Dame Judi Dench and Dame Eileen Atkins for the film It’s a Free World in 2007.

She has previously worked with Idris Elba in Season Two of Luther, and actors Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy, but is set to star as nurse Kathy in the gritty new feature film, written by Leon F. Butler and produced by Mr Elba.

A Hundred Streets will be released in cinemas on November 11.
