A THUG caught on camera head-butting and viciously attacking a man dressed in fishnet tights and stiletto heels has avoided jail.
Kelvin Stevens, 23, of Theydon Crescent, Basildon, launched a verbal assault on a group of cross-dressing revellers, as they headed to The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Cambridge.
Stevens, who works in Cambridge, shouted homophobic abuse and as a row escalated he laid into Barry Giles, 23, from Hampshire. Stevens headbutted and punched him as his female friends, dressed up with feather boas, tried to stop him.
The attack was caught on CCTV and led to Stevens' arrest at a nightclub in the city.
Cambridge Magistrates' Court gave Stevens credit for admitting the attack.
He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work, attend the Think First and alcohol abuse programmes while undergoing a 12-month supervision order.
He must also pay Mr Giles £100 compensation and £60 in court costs.
