THE FAMILY of a young boy battling cancer have been surprised with a trolley full of Christmas cheer.
Conal Riley, eight, of Westcliff, had to have his leg amputated after being diagnosed with a rare bone and tissue cancer earlier this year.
His family were also delighted to receive a whole trolley of Christmas treats from Tesco, off the A127 in Southend, with help from Tesco community champions Sharon Turner and Tony Lawrence.
Mum Cara Riley, said: “The trolley included everything from the stuffing to the crackers. “It had everything you would need for Christmas. It has all been so wonderful, it’s been really overwhelming.
“Sharon has been a star, she couldn’t do enough for Conall while Andy Ward, who helped organise the trolley, has become such a good friend.”
