A DOCTOR is to give a talk about his career as a GP.

Dr Kashif Siddiqui will be giving a free talk at Westcliff High School for Boys, Kenilworth Gardens, Westcliff on January 19 at 7pm. All local students and their parents are invited to attend.

Dr Siddqui, who works at his surgery in Rushbottom Lane, Benfleet, will be discussing what qualifications are needed, what to expect during training, salary, hours and what to expect on the job.

Dr Siddiqui, chairman of NHS Castle Point and Rochford Clinical Commissioning Group and previous student at Westcliff High School for Boys said: “There are few jobs that can be more satisfying than general practice. The work can be hard, the hours may be long, but knowing that you can change and improve peoples’ lives is very rewarding.

"Every day is different. You simply never know what you will be dealing with next. It could be a headache that won’t go away, a chest infection, a schizophrenic breakdown, a pregnancy or a child with breathing difficulties. We hope as many students come along on the 19 January to find out more about being a GP and ask any questions they may have.”
