CHILDREN were thrilled when two Southend United players hosted a special assembly.
Youngsters at Janet Duke Primary, Markhams Chase, Basildon, enjoyed a visit from Anthony Wordsworth and Adam Thompson, who both play in the first team.
The players gave a 30-minute assembly to the students, telling them about how they can get free tickets to the Southend v Bolton match on Saturday, January 21 and the launch of their new programme. The children were also given the opportunity to ask questions
Kevin Green, PE co-ordinator, said: “I think they were a bit shy as they were in front of the whole school but they answered the questions really well and the children asked good questions too.”
