The 34-year-old man was taken to hospital and suffered minor injuries.
The road was closed until about 9.40pm while forensic examination work was carried out.
Police carried out a search of the area and enquiries are ongoing.
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Pc Mark Hewitt on 101.
