THE generosity of pupils, parents and staff at a school has helped give a charity fundraiser a £1,181 boost.
Woodlands School, in Woodlands Approach, Basildon, held non-uniform days in aid of the Wagtail Ward at Basildon Hospital after the town’s mayor, David Harrison, spoke to pupils about why he had chosen to support it during his term.
Headteacher Simon Cox said: “We were very keen to support the Mayor’s chosen charities with our non uniform days. Our pupils made generous donations after hearing Mr Harrison’s presentation about Wagtail Ward and the impact that even small donations can have on other’s lives.
“It is vital that our pupils develop an understanding for others who are less fortunate and are experiencing a difficult time.”
Mr Harrison added: “The generous help from the pupils is much appreciated and will be put towards necessary equipment for the Wagtail Ward.”
