A project has been launched today with the aim of finding out about the health and wellbeing priorities of people living in Pitsea South East.

Residents of this area are being encouraged to take part in a consultation called Live Well Pitsea which will help Basildon Council and local partners get an understanding of the barriers to exercise and wellbeing.

This consultation will inform the future of activities delivered at Eversley Leisure Centre.

The centre is already a focal point for physical activity and is key to improving the health outcomes for residents in the area.

The ‘Live Well Pitsea’ project will enable increased community engagement, exploring what it has to offer the local community as a leisure facility.

From today people living in the area may be contacted by a company called Marketing Assistance which is carrying out face to face interviews on behalf of Basildon Council.

The project presents an opportunity to promote health and physical activity in the area, and understand the type of activity that the local population is interested in and excited about.

Councillor Kevin Blake, Basildon Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Arts, said: “I would encourage those living in Pitsea South East to take part in the survey.

"It will help the council to make an informed decision about local services in partnership with stakeholders and local people.

“By working together with partners we can begin to understand people’s interest in physical activity and their appetite to improve their health.”

A series of face to face interviews, with a selection of residents from Pitsea South East, will provide an opportunity for people in the area to contribute their thoughts and ideas on the topics being discussed.

Following this, a number of in-depth interviews will be held with participants to understand the issues which were raised and explore opportunities for people to get more involved in improving health in the local area.

The consultation ends on Friday, March 3. To find out more call Basildon Council on 01268 533333.
