Staff at Basildon Council were invited to bake rainbow-themed treats as a show of support for LGBT colleagues and members of the community.
A bake sale was held at the Basildon Centre, in St Martin’s Square - raising £144 for Transpire, a charity supporting transgender people in south Essex.
Terri Sargent, councillor for environment and community, said: “It was brilliant to see so many people take the time and effort to bake their own cakes to bring in for the sale. All the entries demonstrated brilliant creativity and I’d like to thank all the bakers and everyone who contributed to donations by buying their tasty creations.”
The sale was held as part of LGBT History Month.
