A THEATRE group welcomed a special guest when MP Sir David Amess came along to watch its latest show.

Southend’s Little Theatre Club, which is made up of members aged 16 and over, presented their latest show Ushers at The Palace Theatre, in London Road, Westcliff.

The musical theatre group got high praise from Sir David.

The Southend West MP said: “What a wonderful musical Ushers was! I really congratulate the members of the Little Theatre Company who produced such a great show, everyone was a star.”

The organisation was formed in 1949 by a dozen amateur enthusiasts with an intention to present shows for charities.

From late December of the same year, the company realised that it was possible to hire out The Palace Theatre and went on to perform No No Nanette there. It now puts on two shows a year.
