C&K Basildon Ladies boss Steve Tilson was full of praise for his side as they twice fought back to secure a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

Angela Addison bagged a brace to secure a share of the spoils for Basildon.

And Tilson was delighted by the display.

“I thought it was a really good performance and a good point too because I don’t think Crystal Palace will lose many games at all between now and the end of the season,” said Tilson.

“The girls did ever so well and worked so hard to get us a point I really felt as though we deserved.

“It was great for Angela to get two goals and she’s doing fantastically well for us.

“She loves the game and has so much flair and skill.

“But the whole team really put a shift in and got us another good result.”

Applying pressure - C&K’s Jay Blackie

Following an excellent win against Cardiff City last weekend, C&K wanted more of the same against the side directly above them in the standings.

Crystal Palace had the first opening of the match after just two minutes, when Gemma Bryan collected a flick on from a quickly taken throw, but her effort was deflected over the crossbar for a corner.

Basildon’s first chance of the match came after nine minutes, when Zoe Rushen received a throw in, turned her marker and sent in a great cross along the six yard box which just evaded Sara Sinclair.

But Bryan opened the scoring for Palace in the 17th minute, picking up a ball behind the Basildon defence and sending a low shot past Nikita Runnacles in the home goal.

In reply, Addison was halted by a save but she was to get her goal.

Amy Nash’s free kick found Addison who rose highest to head the ball over stopper Channel Yardley.

However, Palace were back in front five minutes into the second-half when the ball was headed onto Bryan, and she went round Runnacles and shot an unguarded net.

Just before the hour mark, Danica Revell sent a crisp shot towards goal that was held by Yardley.

Keeping it tight - Hannah Porter clears her lines

But Basildon were to get the equaliser they deserved.

Sinclair was first to the ball down the right flank, making her way into the penalty area and sending a low cross across goal which a sliding Addison met at the far post.

Hannah Porter saw a strike superbly blocked by a Crystal Palace defender and, with five minutes left, Porter’s header at the far post, from Amy Nash’s free-kick, just went wide of the upright.

But, with no further goals, a highly entertaining match ended all square and Basildon remain sixth in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division C&K Basildon: Runnacles, Stimson, Donahue, Revell, Porter, Little, Blackie, Addison, Rushen, Sinclair, Nash.
