REVELLERS will be able to get a taste of a new £1million bar before it opens its doors to the public next month.

Builders have been hard at work transforming the former HMV building, in Queens Road, Southend, into a Revolution.

The new bar and restaurant, which will open its doors to the public on Friday, April 21, will serve up a blend of creative cocktails, food, mixology masterclasses and late-night parties.

The Echo revealed last week up to 100 new jobs will be created.

The grand opening will feature entertainment including a DJ and a complimentary cocktail for all guests.

Ahead of the grand opening, Revolution will be giving the public a hint of what they can expect with a host of events.

Starting on Saturday, April 1, the team will be taking to the streets for a spring clean to spruce up the area.

They will also be setting up a Revolution food truck to give everyone a preview of what they can expect on the new menu.

They will be giving out complimentary samples on Saturday, April 8 from 10.30am and will be parked in Victoria Circus.

Lucky shoppers will also get the chance to bag themselves free tickets to the opening and other treats, with a free vending machine being set up in the Royals Shopping Centre on the same day.

Held on Wednesday, April 12 the team will be hosting a charity dinner for homeless charity HARP. Guests, who can turn up from 6pm, will pay what they choose and all the proceeds will go to the charity.

Mark McQuater, chief executive of the Revolution Bars Group, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be opening Revolution in Southend. This represents an excellent regional opportunity for the group.”

The bar will be licensed from 11am until midnight Sundays to Wednesdays, and 11am to 2am Thursdays to Saturdays.

The team are also supporting the town and Southend Hospital this Sunday with a charity sky dive. Visit justgiving.com/fundraising/Revolution-Southend
