FOUR maths stars have come second in the regional heats of a competition.
Three Year 6 and one Year 5 pupil at Greensted Junior School, Kirby Road, Basildon, took part in the Essex mathematics competition.
Frankie Curran, Sian Firth, George Hellyar and Juhisrija Korlapati were chosen to represent the school for their mathematical prowess.
They pitted their maths knowledge against other schools from across Essex at Wyburns Primary School in Rayleigh.
Due to coming second they won’t go onto the finals.
Teacher Sean Muldoon said: “Our team came second in the heats. They missed out on first place by two points - which is just one question. They are delighted with the achievement as are we at the school.”
