A MAN who was arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences has been told he faces no further action but he has been re-arrested on suspicion of possession of extreme pornography as a result of a search which was made of an address.

The 49-year-old man, from Southend, was arrested at Stansted Airport on December 5 last year on suspicion of preparing for a terrorist act.

The offence was alleged to have taken place outside the UK and is not thought to have been directed at the UK.

Following the arrest, detectives carried out a search of an address in south Essex.

The man was bailed to return to a south London police station on March 21, and he was subsequently released with no further action in relation to the suspected terrorism offences.

But he was then arrested on suspicion of possessing extreme pornography.

For this offence, he was bailed to return to a south London police station in late April.
