A MAN was left with blood streaming from his ear and suffering from concussion after he was punched in the face as he left the cinema.

The man, aged in his twenties, got into a row with a group of people as he tried to leave Cineworld, at Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park, with his girlfriend. The couple had just been to watch a film together.

The man was then assaulted, being left with cuts and bruises to his face. He also suffered concussion and was taken to Basildon Hospital for treatment.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “A call came into us at about 9.50pm to an incident near Cineworld.

“We sent an ambulance crew to assist and assessed one patient, a man in his twenties, who was conscious and breathing.

“He was treated for a head injury and he was taken to Basildon Hospital after receiving treatment at the scene. He was in a stable condition.

“There was blood coming out of his ear but he was fully conscious and talking to medics.”

Chief Insp Sam Smith, district commander for Basildon, is meeting with bosses of Unit 7 and Chicago’s this week to discuss security at Festival Leisure after a spate of violent incidents.

A reveller suffered life-changing injuries when he was knocked down in the car park in February following an argument.

A week later a man suffered serious facial injuries after a fight broke out close to the dancefloor inside Chicago’s nightclub.
