A FORMER South Essex College student has been inspired to set up an educational farm to teach children where their food comes from.
Katie Anderson, 25, who is from South Woodham Ferrers, has set up Muddy Boots Farm, in Burnham, to give youngsters a hands-on experience with farmyard animals including chickens, pigs and goats.
She was inspired to set up the farm after research for her degree dissertation at University Centre Southend, in Luker Road, showed children were increasingly unaware of where their food comes from. She said: “My dissertation focussed on outdoor learning and how children are losing touch with nature and the outdoors and I wanted to make a change.” Visit muddybootsfarm.com
