A “FED UP” teenage motocross rider told how he would move back to south Essex with his family if a bike track reopened - but nearby residents said they would move away.

Dylan Woodcock, 17, from Rayleigh was forced to move to Fyfe, Scotland, to pursue his dream of becoming a professional rider.

He told the Echo he was forced to relocate after Basildon Council closed Wickford’s Action Park in 2015.

But nearby Wickford residents, who wish to remain anonymous, said they would wish to move away if the Bonville Farm venue, off the A127, reopened because of the “horrendous” noise.

Dylan occasionally stays in Marina Drive, Rayleigh, with his father Leonard when he returns to Essex.

He said: “Living in Essex gets in the way of my career, it’s a big headache.

“I have to travel an hour-and-a-half to Norfolk each day to ride and I don’t drive so my family would be forced to ferry me about.

“In Fyfe I live with my mechanic because there are six tracks nearby that I can use easily and get the training I need.

“If the park reopened I would be happy to move back with family.

“They don’t have the same problem with riders on the streets in Fyfe because they have somewhere to go.”

He added his family have to shell out thousands of pounds a year to fly between Scotland and Essex, so they can spend time together.

But nearby residents claim their house prices will plummet and they would be forced to move if Basildon Council gives Action Park’s owners permission to reopen.

One resident said: “It is causing us a lot of stress. When the park is open the noise is horrendous. If the park reopened then people would want to move away, but their house prices would drop so they wouldn’t be able to do so.”

It comes after the Echo revealed hundreds of nuisance bikers are using an industrial estate as a makeshift stunt course.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of complaints made about nuisance riders operating at an industrial estate in Miles Gray Road, Basildon.”

Action Park, at Bonville Farm, Wickford, was forced to shut after Basildon Council issued an enforcement notice in May 2015 against the park. The site had been operating on green belt land without planning permission.
