A CARE home that looks after residence on the autism spectrum has been labelled “good” by the Care Quality Commission.

Last month, when inspectors carried out an unannounced visit of Cedar House, in London Road, Pitsea they found the service to be caring, well-led , responsive, safe and effective.

This month, the CQC rated it “good” across all five categories.

The report says: “People were cared for and supported by staff who had received training to support people and to meet their needs.

“Staff cared for people in an empathetic and kind manner. Staff had a good understanding of people’s preferences of care.

“Records we viewed showed people and their relatives were involved in the planning and review of their care.

“Staff and relatives spoke very highly of the registered manager and the provider who they informed to be very supportive and worked hard to provide an exceptional service.”

The home, run by Kingswood Care Services looks after up to five residents at a time.

Inspectors used observations, speaking with staff and relatives, reviewed care records and other information to help assess the home.
