A TEAM of schoolchildren have been crowned champions in a competition to build and launch rockets with a raw egg cargo.

The youngsters, from Sweyne Park School, in Rayleigh, took part the UKRoC challenge, which saw them design and build rockets capable of reaching a height in the region 770 feet, and safely land an egg 45 seconds from the launch.

It was the first time the school had entered so the team was delighted to win and go on the international stage of the competition which involves the team designing a more powerful rocket and representing the UK at the Paris Airshow.
