POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an 84-year-old woman has died following a crash on A132, Burnham Road.
The crash took place yesterday at about when a white Mercedes Benz Van and a blue Ford Grand C-Max crashed on the busy road.
The woman, who was a passenger in the Ford C-Max, was taken to Basildon Hospital but was sadly declared dead shortly before 4.45pm.
A 71-year-old man who was the driver of the car and two passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Basildon hospital.
A man in his twenties, who was the driver of the van, also suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Both drivers are assisting police with their enquiries.
Officers from the Essex Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact police on either 101 or to email CollisionAppeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
