ESSEX Yacht Club, based on the Wilton ship in Leigh, has been awarded £2,000 by the Essex and Southend Sports Trust.
The grant will help meet the cost of a new safety boat for club members and to provide support to sailing events.
Rob Redman, club commodore, said: “We are extremely grateful to the trust for awarding this grant to the club to help us meet the cost of the new safety boat. The club has been based here since it was founded in 1890, and its focus has always been to encourage families to enjoy sailing.”
