SIX fire crews were called to a fire at a thatched roof in Hadleigh.
Firefighters from Rayleigh Weir, Leigh and two crews from Basildon and Southend were scrambled to the building in Chapel Lane, in Hadleigh, yesterday at about 7.30pm.
On arrival firefighters reported that the thatched roof was 30 per cent alight.
A fire service spokesman said: "Six fire engines attended the incident, which is the normal number for a thatched roof fire, and crews worked to extinguish the fire by 8.10pm.
"Firefighters then worked to cut sections of the roof away to ensure no hotspots were left.
"An investigation will take place to establish the cause of the fire."
