A WOMAN was taken to hospital after crashing her car into a set of traffic lights.

The incident happened at the junction of London Road and Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff, just before 10.30am on Friday.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and reported one women, aged 60, for careless driving.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We got a call at 10.24am to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of London Road and Hamlet Court Road.

“We sent a rapid response vehicle and they were there within seven minutes. We assessed a patient, a woman in her sixties, for facial and arm injuries.

“We didn’t treat any other patients.

“She was taken to Southend Hospital for further treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police received reports at around 10.20am on Friday, June 16 of a road traffic collision in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff.

“We received a call that two vehicles had crashed with one car colliding with a set of traffic lights.

“A 60-year-old woman was taken to hospital with cuts and bruising to her arms. She has been reported for careless driving.

“The other driver, a man in his thirties, was uninjured. The road was closed by police before being reopened shortly afterwards.”
