A MAN has been arrested in connection with the theft of a charity box that was collecting donations for a children's hospice.

Police investigating the theft of a charity box from The Rose pub, in Chelmsford Road, Shenfield, on Thursday, June 1, issued an appeal to help find the man believed to be responsible.

Officers were called at 6pm to reports that a charity box, which contained donations for Little Haven’s Children’s Hospice, was stolen.

A 36-year-old man from Chelmsford was arrested yesterday, Saturday, June 17, on suspicion of burglary and currently remains in police custody for questioning.

Little Havens Children's Hospice is based in Benfleet and provides specialist support and care for children and young people affected by life-limiting illnesses.

The police thank the public for sharing their appeal.
