Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Central Park, Chelmsford, between 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Friday, June 6. 

Two men, thought to be in their late teens, have stolen a phone from a 19-year-old man. 

The victim has then spoken to a third man who has pulled what is thought to be a police baton out of his bag.

Two further men have arrived, where one had what is believed to be a machete, before the victim fled the scene. 

The first man is described as being around 5ft 10in, of skinny build with blonde hair that is short at the sides and longer on top. He was wearing blue fitted jeans, a grey sweatshirt and a black backpack. 

The second man is described as being around 5ft 11in, of skinny build with afro hair and a gap in his front teeth. He was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit with the hood pulled over his head. 

The third man is described as being around 5ft 7in, of skinny build, with dark brown hair swept over to one side. He was wearing a red puffa jacket, blue jeans and a red drawstring bag. 

The fourth man is described as being around 5ft 11in, of skinny build and gaunt face with a beard, hair style in dreadlocks and tied into a ponytail. He was wearing a black tracksuit with gold detailing. 

The fifth man is described as being around 5ft 7in, of large build with a round face and short hair. He was wearing a black tracksuit with a black shoulder bag. 

All the men were riding mountain bikes. 

Investigating officer Pc Chloe Lingane said, “We would particularly like to speak to a group of people who the victim spoke to after the incident.

"If you were in the area at the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously please contact Chelmsford police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
