Travellers have been seen setting up in Noak Bridge.
The group were spotted yesterday at a field at the junction of Wash Road and South Wash Road.
There are currently about five caravans on the site.
It is Basildon Council land and the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit (ECTU) has been informed.
