AN Essex man arrested on suspicion of making a hoax bomb threat more than 20 years ago has been told he faces no further action.
The 36-year-old was arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police earlier this year.
The investigation started after a forensic review of evidence seized from the scene of a hoax bomb threat, made at a fast food restaurant, in Brompton Road, Kensington, on November 10, 1999.
The threat was said to have been made by a far-right organisation.
The hoax call was made at a time of heightened tensions following a devastating series of nail bombs planted in London by neo-Nazi David Copeland in April, 1999.
The 36-year-old man was bailed until late April and then June.
A Met police spokesman said: “Following a CPS decision, the man has been told no further action will be taken.”
