Drivers are being warned to avoid a ford near Billericay after a driver got stuck trying to cross.
Buttsbury Wash has flooded due to the rain near the junction with Padhams Green Road and Mountnessing Road.
Drivers are advised not to try to drive through the floodwater and to find an alternative route.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Crews were called to Buttsbury Wash, Ingatestone, at 7.30am this morning after reports that a man was stuck in his vehicle.
"Water trained firefighters used a water slide to rescue the man by 8.05am."
