One week after a fight at Cobham Services petrol station that left a 20-year-old man dead, officers are appealing for more witnesses to come forward.

A man has been charged with murder, but police are still looking to trace second man in connection with the incident.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Jo Hayes said: “Exactly one week ago today, a young man was brutally attacked. Last Wednesday he sadly died of his injuries, and so we are visiting the scene again today to appeal to anyone who may have been there to come forward.

“I would like to identify everyone who visited this busy petrol station at Cobham Services between 3pm and 3.30pm on Monday 26 June.

“There were drivers refuelling their vehicles, and we’d like to speak to them. Eyewitnesses report people filming the incident on mobile phones, and we’d like to speak to them. And there was a second suspect seen leaving the scene in a white Peugeot Partner van. We’d like to speak to him.

“This would have been a traumatic event to witness, and I understand some people may feel confused or conflicted about coming forward. I want to reassure everyone that was there that we have trained officers waiting to speak to you – and your information could be vital in bringing the people responsible for this crime to justice.”
