More than 100 pupils from South Benfleet Primary School have won a national spelling bee competition.
Each child worked incredibly hard at home to learn 40 spellings in total for the two rounds of the competition. Every class from Year 2 to Year 6 then competed together to correctly call out their year group spelling words.
Amazingly, all classes scored full marks in the permitted time with both Year Four classes achieving the fastest times.
More than 30 schools from across the country took part with South Benfleet Primary, in High Road, coming top and winning first prize.
The school won a spelling resource subscription and each child got a trophy and toy.
