A MAN has appeared in court charged with carrying out a string of violent domestic offences against his ex-partner.

Gary White, from Southend, is charged with 16 offences - including attempted robbery, malicious wounding and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

White, 34, appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Friday where the allegations were read out.

Philip Pearson, prosecuting, said: “There is a very long list of allegations and a number of different offences of violence.”

The first three allegations are that on March 17, White assaulted Phoebe White in Rochford and made threats to kill her, as well causing criminal damage worth £500 to her property.

He is charged with causing Mrs White actual bodily harm and twice assaulting her by beating on April 29.

White is accused of attempting to rob Behzad Eslamizar of money the following day in Westcliff.

On May 1, White is charged with making a threatening phone call to Mrs White.

On June 24, he is alleged to have attempted to inflict grievous bodily harm on her.

Also on that day he is charged with burglary and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on Barry Hand, assault by beating and causing criminal damage worth £1,250.

White is charged with another set of offences on June 29. He is alleged to have carried out an aggravated burglary in Mustang Close, Rochford, while armed with a knife and baseball bat and caused criminal damage worth £1,000 to a car. He is also charged with possession of a knife in a public place, namely Mustang Close.

White did not enter a plea. He will appear at Basildon Crown Court on August 4.
