A fleet of more than 100 taxis brought 300 children with special needs from London for a day out at Southend seafront yesterday.
The children visited Adventure Island and Cliffs Pavilion and where they were to be greeted by a host of characters including Snow White, The Furry Tail Folk and Southend’s own Salvo the Clown.
Raymond Levy, press officer for the London Taxi Drivers’ Fund for Underprivileged Children, said: “It went very, very well and the children had a wonderful time.
“A little girl told me that this was the best day of her life. For a little girl to say that brings tears to your eyes.
“A great big pat on the back for the committee and the taxi drivers.”
This is the 45th year that this trip has happened.
