Pensioner denies downloading vile child abuse images
A PENSIONER has denied carrying out a string of online child abuse image offences.
Derek Shanks, 78, of Sandpiper Close, Shoebury, is charged with: distributing six category A still images of children and 11 category B still images; downloading 100 category A images, 140 category B images and 480 category C images; possessing a prohibited image of a child and possessing 330 extreme pornographic images featuring animals.
He is also charged with possession of a .22 revolver.
All the offences are alleged to have taken place on or before April 1.
Shanks denied the charges at Southend Magistrates’ Court and will appear at Basildon Crown Court on July 24.
