A man has been arrested after three vehicles were set on fire in South Ockendon and a man was assaulted.

Essex Police were called to an incident in West Thurrock Way at 8:40pm on July 28 where a man had been assaulted and suffered facial injuries.

He was then taken to hospital for treatment on his injuries.

Later that evening, at around 3am on Saturday July 29, police were called to South Road, South Ockendon, after it was reported that three vehicles were deliberately set alight that are believed to have belonged to the man who was assaulted.

A 30-year-old man from Hornchurch was arrested, charged with suspected criminal damage and grievous bodily harm, on Monday, July 31, and has been released on police bail until Sunday, August 27, pending further enquiries.
