Hadleigh councillors are celebrating a job well done after repairs to a road were finally completed after three years.

Councillors joined forces with residents living on the Westwood Estate to lobby Essex County Council for new road surfaces in their neighbourhood.

They have been taking action after being challenged in 2015 at a surgery about the poor road surfaces on the estate.

The councillors encouraged as many residents as possible to email the Essex County Council with their concerns.

That plan of action worked wonders and in February this year the highways department announced that resurfacing would take place.

Councillor Jill Reeves said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Westwood Estate has now been resurfaced. It just goes to show that perseverance and patience does win through at the end of the day.”
