CHILDREN spent the weekend living the life of their favourite superhero when they visited Sealife Adventure and Adventure Island in Southend.

Superhero Weekend at the seafront aquarium offered up a host of activities for children across the weekend, including arts and crafts, a colouring competition and the main event - a treasure hunt.

Children also enjoyed getting their faces painted and acting as their alter egos.

Jonathan Humphry, Manager at Sea Life Adventure hailed the day as super-success: “A great time was had by all, with lots of our members of staff and visitors entering into the spirit of the event and dressing up as their favourite superhero.

Staff from Sealife Adventure did their best impression of their favourite superheroes while also giving advice to the children on how they can become superheroes (or villain) too.

There was an added incentive for the crew of little Batmans, Supermans and Wonder Women to go the extra mile throughout the weekend as a grand prize was given to the winner of best dressed superhero.

There were also guest appearances from Star Wars characters at the aquarium and Adventure Island.

The young heroes and villains will look forward to returning to their alter egos next summer when it is expected Superhero Weekend will return to Southend.
