A COMPANY which had its premises completely destroyed by a fire has confirmed it is back up and running, less than ten days after a devastating blaze.

Global company P2P Mailing’s warehouse, in Festival Way, Basildon, caught fire at at 12.12am on Sunday, August 20.

More than 100 firefighters, and 15 engines and a number of specialist appliances were at scene putting out the enormous flames.

In a statement released by P2P yesterday, the company confirmed the warehouse is fully operational again.

The company said: “Orders are now being processed as normal and all work is up to date. Additionally, all back-office functions, including customer service and accounts, are up and running again.

“Furthermore, P2P Mailing can confirm that it has found new premises situated within two and a half miles of its previous Basildon facility, more details of which will be released in due course.”

It added: “P2P Mailing would like to acknowledge all the hard work carried out by its staff, from the warehouse operational team to the senior management team as well as the support from the wider delivery group companies and our vendor partners, and thank them for making this recovery as swift and seamless as possible.

“The company would also like to extend its thanks to all our customers for their understanding, support and co-operation and to reassure the market that all processing is back to normal.”

It took more than 24 hours to extinguish the flames entirely in the 100m by 50m warehouse.

Crews from Basildon, Wickford, Rayleigh, Corringham, Orsett, Brentwood, Leigh, Epping, Ingatestone, Canvey, Maldon and South Woodham were called to the blaze.

Lorries parked outside the warehouse were also destroyed by the fire.

Firefighters were praised for their effort in putting out the flames efficiently and effectively before the blaze spread any further.

A PSP spokesman added: “We are working with the relevant authorities to determine the cause of the fire and to ensure minimal disruption to the local area.”

Witnesses told The Echo they could see the fire and thick smoke across Basildon and even further away.

No employees were injured.
