A MAN is appealing for witnesses to come forward after he was hit by a car - which then drove off.

Bill Buck, from Canvey, was hit by a car in Dinant Avenue, Canvey, at 9.30pm on Thursday night.

The driver failed to stop and drove off.

Mr Buck was left with a sore arm and head, but thankfully was not seriously injured in the collision.

He said: “I went up the bonnet and onto the windscreen.

“I can’t believe someone would drive off and leave me in the road, not to mention the five cars that drove past afterwards that left me laying in road.”

Mr Buck managed to get the registration plate of the car and has passed it on to the police.

He is hopeful that they can be traced.

He is calling for anyone who witnessed the collision, or caught it on CCTV, pass the information onto the police.

A spokesman from Essex Police said: “Police were called to reports of a fail to stop collision on St Christopher’s Close, Canvey, at 10.15pm on August 31.

“The victim was hit by a blue Vauxhall Zafira which did not stop. An ambulance attended but the man was not taken to hospital.”

A spokesman from the ambulance service said: “We were called to Christophers Close, Canvey, just after 10.20pm on Thursday.

“We were called after someone had been hit by a car half an hour before. We sent one ambulance crew to a man believed to be in his 30s.

“We don’t know where the incident happened but the patient had moved to this location. He was assessed but was not taken to hospital by us. Police also attended.

“He was given advice that if his condition worsened he should go to hospital. We left the scene just after 11pm.”
