GREEN-FINGERED residents who opened their gardens to the public have raised £1,000 for a community emergency service.
The gardeners who took part in the Canvey Island Charity Garden Trail met to present the money raised to Canvey Island First Responders.
The presentation was held at one of the event’s open gardens, owned by Mike Minchin of Church Parade, Canvey.
John Anderson, Canvey mayor, said: “Thank you to all of the gardeners, plus businesses GMD Mowers, Canvey Supply, and Garden World, as well as residents and organisations involved in the garden trail.
“The town council is grateful for your continued support.”
