A NEW scheme was launched today by the GIFT project board which aims to prioritise funding for people in Thurrock.

The board, a collaboration of Thurrock CVS, Thurrock Council, intu Lakeside, Fairness Commission, Community Chest and Essex Community Foundation, have a set of ambitions to prioritise where funding goes in the borough.

The three priroties are children who are placed into foster care or are known to social services, elderly people, and young carers.

Chairman of the GIFT project board, and Chief Executive of Thurrock Council, Lyn Carpenter, said: "I am always inspired when I attend a GIFT meeting.

"The ambition, drive and dedication shown by the team and the officers is unparalleled and their ongoing commitment to making a difference in Thurrock is the reason I want to be involved in such an inspiring and motivating initiative.

"This project is about collaboration, working together across the private, public and voluntary sectors in Thurrock to support those most in need in our borough."
