A man has been taken to hospital after being shot with a pellet gun in South Ockendon earlier today.

Essex Police would like to speak to anyone who may have been near the Daiglen Drive area of South Ockendon at 8.50am today (Tuesday, September 12), after a man received a pellet bullet wound to his left arm.

Officers were called by the ambulance service, who treated the man in his 20s at the scene, before he was taken to hospital for treatment. 

The victim was walking near Hangman's Wood at the end of Daiglen Drive when he was injured. 

His injury is believed to be serious, but not life-threatening. 

PC Rob Mackenzie, the investigating officer for Essex Police, said: "This was an isolated incident and we believe the man may have been shot with a pellet bullet.

"We are trying to establish the circumstances which led to the man being injured. 

"We would therefore like to speak to witnesses who may have been near the area at the time.”

Enquiries are ongoing.
