South Essex College students went on the trip of a lifetime to the USA for their criminology degree course.

Higher education students from South Essex College, which has campuses in Basildon, Southend and Thurrock, set off to learn about crime and punishment in America.

BSc (Hons) Criminology and Forensic Investigation students at the Southend campus visited Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York.

The tour included the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Statue of Liberty as well as the cybercrime lab at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Kate Raven, HE Programme Leader, said: “This was an amazing opportunity for our students to experience a completely different criminal justice system and network with professionals abroad that they wouldn’t ordinarily have access to.
